I have been realizing that I am more productive if I have goals and set a schedule for my day. If I truly want to take my writing to bigger heights, I need to treat it like it’s my job. On the other hand, I am giving myself a break because I HAVE had a lot on my plate over the last several months :)!
My new writing hours will be from 8:15-11:15 and then again from 1:00-3:00, M-F, so a total of 25 hours/week. If I have to sub, get groceries or have other bigger distractions, I will try and make up the lost hours on evenings or weekends when I have some free time :). I will keep my own little time sheet too. This schedule should enable me to meet my goals–maybe even sooner if the creativity is really flowing.
I find that when I am into writing my books, it is similar to reading–I get lost in the story and all the details and it can be a bit of an out of body experience). I still enjoy my reading hobby and I plan to continue this and in fact, I plan to add that to my list of goals right now. I believe reading can be one of the best writing enhancers there is–and it’s fun!
13. Read at least two books/month, with at least one being middle grade/young adult (since that is my current writing genre of choice).
Well, that about sums it up for now. I am happy to see that I have thirteen goals–my lucky number :)!
Thanks!
